A notice from Local 18 regarding: COVID-19

In light of the rapidly changing status of Covid-19 locally and around the globe, and following the recommendations from Medical officers and Ontario government, Local 18 has made the following decisions regarding both our Hamilton and Niagara offices and training facilities. All Local 18 scheduled training courses, trade school, social events, and meetings held at Local 18 offices and facilities are cancelled and postponed until further notice. This includes the non-assessed called Vote regarding Journeyperson Candidate status which was to be held following the April General Meeting. Local 18 Members will be advised when such training courses, events and meetings will be rescheduled, once the decisions have been made in the coming weeks. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at the hall via phone or email.

The health and safety of our staff and our membership is our biggest concern, and with that we are respectfully requesting that all membership inquiries and business be handled through phone and email at all times when possible, not in person as our office doors will be closed to walk ins. We are dedicated to assisting you as best we can by phone, email and utilizing postal service for all of your inquiries, dues payments, and deliveries. It is important to note that at the direction of the District Council the Union’s Representatives will visit sites to deal with important issues only. Members should communicate with their Representatives through their Shop Stewards or by telephone, or email. Together with your assistance, we will be able to get through this challenging time for all.
