You may contact the Benefit Office to confirm if your hours have been received. Ensure you submit the Reciprocal Form to the Local jurisdiction in which you are working.

In addition to Vision Care, the Safety Eyewear Program provides $125 every 24 months for CSA-approved prescription safety glasses. Submit your receipt to the Local 18 Benefit Office for reimbursement.

Local 18 has negotiated group rates at select clinics. With the Safety Eyewear Benefit Form, these clinics will bill the Local 18 Benefit Office directly.

If your spouse has their own benefit plan, claims should be submitted there first, with remaining costs reimbursable under your plan. For dependants, claims go to the parent whose birthday comes first in the year.

Your benefit plan includes up to 26 weeks of short-term disability coverage (WI). Contact the Benefit Office, and they will send you the required paperwork to start a claim.

The short-term disability benefit provides up to 26 weeks of coverage, with either EI sick benefits (refer to Service Canada for the exact amount) or Canada Life WI benefits ($400 per week).

Upon retirement, out-of-country medical coverage is reduced from unlimited to $20,000, and life insurance decreases from $100,000 to $10,000.

As $20,000 is limited for out-of-country coverage, retirees are advised to purchase additional private insurance for international travel.

Benefit coverage decisions are determined by the provisions in the group insurance policy. The Trustees receive quarterly and annual reports from the Welfare plan consultants, who review the insurance company's claims and costs statistics and propose changes or improvements to the plan as needed.

The Trustees aim to provide a comprehensive, competitive benefit plan for all members.
