Local 18 Children's Christmas Party-Sunday November 24th
Brothers, Sisters, and Families,
It’s almost time to Fa la la la la!
Sunday November 24th, 2024 marks our annual Christmas party for the children. It will be held at the Michelangelo Banquet Centre at 1555 Upper Ottawa Street. The party is open to all members, their spouses, children, and grandchildren.
Activities included will be:
Time with Santa
A Christmas Gift
Crafts
Food and Refreshments
We are ready to rock around the Christmas Tree! Registrations forms have been mailed out and attached for easy reference.
Don’t forget you MUST pre-register by Tuesday October 29th, so that Santa’s Union Elves can make the toys on schedule!

General Carpentry (403A) Job Readiness Program – Fall/Winter 2024 APPLY NOW!

The Job Readiness Program is an 8-week program designed to help participants become job-ready to work in the construction industry. Participants will learn relevant theory and skills which will set the foundation for a future apprenticeship and a successful career as a General Carpenter. Our work is proudly demonstrated within the I.C.I. construction industry which encompasses industrial, commercial, and institutional work.
We are offering 2 program intake dates for Fall/ Winter 2024:
First Start Date: September 23rd- November 15th
Second Start Date: October 28th – December 20th
The first four weeks will be in-class and focus on theory and practical training. Participants will earn Ministry safety certifications and will learn to safely use tools while learning basic Carpentry and Formwork skills.
In the final four weeks will be at a job placement, where participants will earn and learn as they work on a construction site. Please note all participants must have reliable transportation to attend to any potential area of job placement.
The program is designed for new pre-apprentices entering the construction industry by eliminating barriers to optimize the success of all participants in a supportive learning environment.
Program Highlights:
- Paid PPE(Personal Protective Equipment)and hand tools for participants to keep at the end of the program
- $800/week for the four-week in-class portion of the program, to be disbursed at the end of the 4 week in-class portion of the program
- Four weeks of instruction to help participants become Job Ready
- Four weeks of job placement, secured by Local 18
- Tuition-free Employment Ontario Program sponsored in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario
