BS-H&R — Basics of Hoisting & Rigging

This course will provide participants with classroom and hands on instruction/participation in basics of hoisting and rigging procedures. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of principles relating to safe hoisting and rigging practices in the construction industry. Course content includes theoretical instruction, demonstration, international hand signals and practical exercises. Instructional delivery includes hoisting and rigging hazards, fiber rope, knots, and hitches, hardware, wire rope, and slings, rigging tools and devices, hazard awareness in crane operations.

BSUPR — Supervisors Health & Safety

This informative one-day program is designed to help supervisors understand and fulfill all of their legal duties and responsibilities including the consequences of noncompliance. Under Ontario's Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, employers must ensure supervisors complete basic occupational health and safety awareness training in addition to knowledge and competency-based training specific to the workplace. Participants will learn about the Internal Responsibility System (IRS), the concept of due diligence and the rights and functions of the joint health and safety committee (JHSC). Detailed attention is paid to the supervisor's role in work refusals, Ministry of Labour workplace inspections and JHSC or health and safety representative inspections and investigations, all governed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The program also reviews relevant case law and provisions of the Criminal Code to give participants a clear understanding of their duties under this Federal statute

C.FORK — Construction & Industrial Fork Lift Operator

This course focuses on the forklift operator's responsibilities as defined by the Occupational Health & Safety Act and on safe operating procedures for all-terrain forklifts. The course includes information on forklift functions, proper maintenance and inspections, and safe operating practices. Each student will be required to pass a written test and to schedule a practical evaluation after the in-class theory component has been delivered. The practical evaluation is approximately three hours on the machine. A certification card will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

This course focuses on the safe operation of both scissor and boom type elevating work platforms. WAH — Working at Heights Course

This program addresses the legislative requirements relating to fall protection including fall hazard awareness; safe use of ladders and scaffolds; Mobile Elevated Work Platforms; inspection of fall protection equipment; and the proper use of fall protection equipment. The practical component of this course will include the inspection and use of a harness and lanyard and other fall protection equipment such as a rope grab and lifeline, anchor point, and self-retracting life line.
